Apricot Kernel Oil - Cert. Organic

Apricot Kernel Oil - Cert. Organic

The apricot is thought to be a native of Armenia, its botanical name deriving from that assumption and there is archeological evidence to support the concept. Certainly, Persians have cultivated the tree since antiquity.  However, there is another view which claims China domesticated the fruit, and yet another which awards that honor to India, claiming proof it existed there 3000BC.

Alexander the Great introduced it to Greece and various Roman generals, via their plunderings, brought it to Europe.

The kernel contains amygdalin (laetrile) also known among the non-scientific community as vitamin B17.  Apricot kernel oil is high in poly-unsaturated oleic and linoleic fatty acids.  It contains palmitic, palmitoleic, heptadecenoic acid, 9-heptadecenoic, stearic, linolenic, arachidic as well as eicosenoic fatty acids.

It is finely textured and, therefore, readily absorbed as a moisturizer and revitalizing cream, ideal for sensitive areas such as around the eyes.

It is a general-purpose emollient, also containing vitamin A which helps increase the skin’s elasticity. It is also used to decrease stretch marks.
