Manuka Honey - Natural Source

Manuka Honey - Natural Source

Manuka honey is a form of monofloral honey from New Zealand which is produced by bees which feed on the flowers of the manuka or Leptospermum plant, better known as the tea tree in some regions of the world.

The tea tree is known to be antibacterial and antifungal, and it is has been used for decades as a source of things such as mouth washes and disinfectants. Honey has been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years and now, natural cosmetics are finding its qualities extremely beneficial.

Honey harnesses the properties of the tea tree, combining them with the already naturally antibacterial properties of honey, making it effective in wound healing, prevention of infection and fungal irritation. The oil has high anti-microbial qualities.

In Australia, the honey similar to manuka honey is made from bees which feed on the jelly bush.

Active Manuka honey has unique medicinal properties not found in other honeys and requires different production and handling methods to maintain these  potent qualities.

Cold extraction methods, with minimal processing, are used to produce the Manuka honey. This helps to preserve the total compliment of minerals, antioxidants, active enzymes of this potent and unique honey. All their bees are managed naturally by organic principles, without the use of sugar feeding, veterinary pharmaceuticals or chemicals.

Manuka is also a natural moisturizer and has antioxidant properties. It is rich in vitamins, minerals and natural proteins which help feed and nourish the skin.
